This is a high quality reproduction print of my original pen and watercolor of the Common Blue Violet (Viola sororia). As part of my Native Plant Collection, this illustration is meant to highlight and celebrate the beauty and significance of this native species. One of this plant's claim to fame is its status as the state flower of Illinois. Another claim to fame is its symbolism of queer love, which is due to its association with the ancient Greek poet Sappho.
