Original watercolor and pen illustration of a Golden Alexander (Zizia aurea). This piece was one of 12 original paintings created for my Native Plant Collection, which highlights the beauty and ecological importance of 12 wildflowers indigenous to the United States (and IL/MO, specifically).
This delicate-looking beauty plays well in the garden--only growing to be around 1-2 feet tall and 1 foot wide. A spring bloomer, this perennial attracts pollinators, acting as host plant for the Black Swallowtail and Ozark Swallowtail Butterfly.
